"Giant Root"

From reader "Jack S.":

"This is the print from a t-shirt, wondering what it really says. Thanks."

The character on the left means "large" or "giant", and the character on the right means "root" or "foundation". Therefore, if you are reading it as Chinese, it would mean "giant root". But in Japanese, it means "large penis".

Oh, 根 also has the connotation of 'dick' in Chinese - especially in the compound 根子. I remember a foreign friend of mine who'd been given the unfortunate Chinese name of 丁根...

I've seen that t-shirt for sale on the website www.tshirthell.com. That's exactly what they wanted it to say which could make it more or less funny

Although the literal meaning in chinese is giant root, used together it actually implies Giant Penis as well. So I guess it was an intended pun
