"Nothing" Earring

Angela emails:

"Tian, I've found this pair of earrings on the Internet [shown above] It is as if the person who wears these earrings are trying to tell people that she has 'nothing'! :) Cheers, Angela"

= negative, no, not; lack, have no
無 【む】 (pref) un-; -less; SP

well, mu is quite loaded term in Buddhism, so it may come out that wearing them is sort of a statement.

I believe everyone who wear something has words on them are trying to make some sort of statements; that's why statement t-shirts are so popular among the young people.

I'm not familiar with Buddhism. If 無 signify something in that area, I wouldn't know. So, what does 無 means in Buddhism?

Thanks, niten! :)

Now I am looking forward to meeting a lady who wears 無 earrings and 有 T-shirt. Perhaps she can give me a lesson or two about Buddhism. :)

If I saw those earrings, I wouldn't think of Buddhism or mu at all. I'd take them to indicate that there is nothing in the area between them. =P
