Perhaps the character in the red circle is a Japanese phonetic translation, but there is no character in Chinese vocabulary has and combined together. When they are separated, the character on the left has multiple meanings depends on the context. It usually means “dusk” or “evening”. The character on the right means “female”.

In Chinese, it could either mean “evening woman” (prostitute? call girl? escort?) or “old woman” (dying woman?), since people always associate sunset and dusk with old age.

The top two characters on his back are (to protect, to guard) and (eternal). Therefore his tattoo would mean “[to] forever protect evening/old/dying woman” in Chinese.

It would be great if he actually works as a call girl’s body guard or in a nursing home taking care of dying old ladies.

Here is another screw up by the same tattoo studio. (hell) is missing a dot. Rock on, you moron.

That second one looks like a prison tattoo.

the first one means "pimp" - just a roundabout way of saying it.

The last 2 characters (if there are 2 of them) are practically sidewise.

So now you're actually calling someone a moron? Just because his/her tattooist forgot a dot in diyu?

im not exactly sure how to ask if i can have you explain a tatoo. i found it on a site and am only a beginner in radicals and such, but a few of these characters look to be made up. but thats not my opinion, i dont know enough to make on. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v388/MaboroshiX/tattoo.jpg

Meh . . . At least the "hell" tat can be fixed relatively easily.

Regarding anon's picture, I cannot make out the third character, though the rest are legitimate.

They are:
- bravery, courage

- martial

??

- flower, petal; hero; or phonetic representation for "English"

Looks like each character is using a different font, so the third one might be a legitimate character using a more cursive and abstract style, making it difficult to recognize.

my first thought was that the 3d character is "fu2" 福 (blessing), but that doesn't make sense w/the other characters that seem more related to being tough...

thanks. i ment to put my name with that picture. i knew that 2 were correct. but i didnt think the 3rd one was correct though. it looks just weird. but it could be an odd font like glenn said. thanks for the info though.

I'd say dying woman could be considered or translated as "lady killer", the guy might think he's a player. So, he's probably trying to say he's a pimp who's good with the ladys.

勇武 is "bravery" in Japanese (yuubu). Beats the fuck outta me what #3 is, but 福英 (fukuei) is not a word as far as I know, but you might be able to say it's "lucky hero" somehow.

They are morons for not understanding what the hell is being written on them.

They are to blame more than the people who write on them IMHO.

"protector of evening ladies" is what i think he was going for. this site is great, but you should show what the "correct" characters for pimp (and all the others) would be. otherwise, this one looks like, well, he did his best.
